7 Ways JD Collision Gives Back to the Local Community
JD Collision is not just an auto body and collision repair shop but also strives to give back to the local community. With 40+ years under our belts, we do everything we can to get the locals involved in our business and get involved with community events.
We are a family run company, and pride ourselves on not only our work in the shop but also providing services and initiatives to those around us.
Whether it’s a car wash benefiting a cancer charity or helping children from a local social services center learn about cars, we are eager to give back.
Read on for seven ways we’ve given back to the community just this year.
1. Summer Trip from Family and Community Social Services
FCSS is a nonprofit that provides support and services to families all over Alberta. Recently, a group of children from a summer program at FCSS came to tour our Cold Lake shop.
The five children who got involved learned all about what it takes to run an auto body and collision repair shop and got some serious hands-on experience. We look forward to continuing to participate in this program and welcoming a new group in 2019.
2. Community Car Washes in Support of Local Cancer Patients
In July 2018, our Cold Lake location planned a community car wash in support of Haying in the 30s.
During the event, we washed cars for free and asked that each attendee make an at-will donation to Haying in the 30s. We also cooked up hamburgers and hot dogs for those coming down to support us.
Haying in the 30s exists to help cancer patients in the local area afford everything they need for their fight. They provide financial assistance for lodging, fuel and transportation while patients are undergoing treatment. We are incredibly proud to support this amazing organization.
3. Bonnyville Gear Grabbers Show and Shine
While we don’t run this event, we strongly support and help out those that put on the Bonnyville Gear Grabbers Show and Shine.
Bonnyville Gear Grabbers is committed to helping individuals, both hobbyists and professionals, modify and repair both their historic and newer cars.
For the past eight years, they have run a classic car show in Bonnyville with free admission to the public. We have always been there to support them, as well as ensure our customers know all about the event by advertising it on our social media.
Our team also gives out an award each year for a car we feel is deserving. This past year, we gave the award for the Best Paint Job.
As car enthusiasts, we support this show in any way we can, including showing off some of our favourite cars from the event on our social media pages. This gets some of our customers not only interacting but also makes them aware of Gear Grabbers and the services they provide.
4. Giveaways for Members of the Local Community
Our team regularly runs giveaways to spread awareness about our brand and give back to someone deserving. Earlier this month, we gave away a free detailing to a random subscriber to our email list.
We also give away a gas gift card to one lucky customer each month.
5. Sponsoring The Junior Golf Clinic
This summer, we partnered with another local business to sponsor a golf clinic for young people.
42 children showed up at the Grand Centre Golf and Country Club this June for the first clinic, where they learned all about how to play golf. The clinic took place every second Thursday throughout the summer.
The event is open to kids ages 6-16 and is free of charge, allowing us to keep golf from becoming cost prohibitive and allowing all kids who are interested to take part in the event.
Kids get to learn about the rules of golf and how to play before hitting the links.
6. Sponsoring the Alberta Native Hockey Provincial Team Jerseys
We had the privilege of getting JD Collision involved in our non-official, but nationally-accepted national sport: hockey. Our company sponsored the team jerseys for the Native Hockey Provincials, with our logo on the shoulder of every player.
The Alberta Native Hockey Council has been working in our community for the past 25 years to develop the love of hockey in children.
It was fantastic to foster the love of hockey amongst young people, and for our team to get to participate in some of the events and games throughout the season.
7. Sponsoring a Charity Hockey Game for Local Response Units
Back in April, we got to sponsor the third annual charity hockey game between the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Cold Lake Fire-Rescue. Not only was it a blast and for a great cause, but we got to give away six tickets to some lucky customers.
Why We Give Back to the Community
Here at JD Collision, we are always looking for ways to give back to our local community. We frequently call on customers to let us know about good causes we can support in order to give back to those around us.
Whether it be giveaways, big celebrations open to the public, sponsoring sports teams or giving to local charities, we want our shop to not only repair automobiles but also be an integral part of the community.
